About Digital Apricot

Who writes this, and how we decide what to recommend.

Digital Apricot is written by a small team of working software and infrastructure engineers. We spend our days in terminals, IDEs and video calls, so we have opinions about the equipment that makes that bearable. This site is where we write them down.

How we pick

We do not run a test lab, and our guides do not claim hands-on testing. Each pick comes from research: manufacturer specifications and documentation, professional reviews, and patterns across large numbers of owner reviews. We care about the things that only show up with time, so we look hardest at what owners report after weeks of use: key feel after a month, whether a laptop throttles on a long build, whether a dock drops a monitor after sleep. Every guide is reviewed by Rakan Khaled before it goes live.

We do not accept payment for placement. Manufacturers do not see articles before they go live. When a product is on loan from a vendor we say so in the article.

How we make money

Two ways. Display ads served by Google, and affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon. If you click one of those links and buy something, we earn a small commission and you pay the same price. Neither affects which products we pick. The full version is on our affiliate disclosure page.
